Teachers are expected to use either a “P” or an “I” grade for common formative assessments and final grades. Teachers should follow the sponsoring university's policies for reporting grades for dual credit classes for college transcripts.
PowerSchool has been updated to include “P” and “I” as grades. Please follow the instructions on grading you have been provided in the Board-approved resolution on Mastery-based Learning.
"P" and "I" are meant to be final grades for the class for the 3rd trimester. You will have to manually assign the final grade. Assessments for identified essential standards should still be entered into PowerSchool. Other assignments that are not counting toward a summative grade may be kept in Google Classroom and do not have to be entered in PowerSchool. To enter the Final Grade for the class just click the final grade and enter a new grade as earned by the student. (see image below)
You can use the "P" and "I" for assignments in PowerSchool too, but take note of a few details. If you choose to use the "P" and "I" then note that “P” will be treated as 100 and the “I” as a zero, if it is not excluded from counting in the final grade. That is why you will have to use your professional judgment and adjust the final class grade accordingly.
When creating an assignment in PowerSchool Unifed Classroom you may have to set it to score as “Main Scale” (in PTP mode it's called "Letter (A-F)" ) for you to be able to enter a “P” or “I” for an assignment grade.(see image below) Also, If you wish for it to not affect the class final grade you can uncheck the “Count in Final Grade” box.
